10:00am to 4:00pm

“How do I deal with pests and diseases without chemicals?” is a common question posed to organic gardeners. Organic systems place a strong emphasis on managing crops to prevent outbreaks rather than trying to deal with them after they have struck.

Within this course we will introduce you to the range of effective techniques available and when and how to use them. We will ensure that you learn to recognise some of the most important pests and diseases in vegetable and fruit crops and the best ways of preventing and controlling them. You will also become familiar with some of the important natural biological controls that have an important role in avoiding pests and diseases and ways of shaping your garden environment to make most use of them.

This course is taught by Dr. Anton Rosenfeld. Anton has worked at Garden Organic for 12 years and is an expert on soils and exotic crops. Throughout the day he will introduce you to the range of effective techniques available and when and how to use them.

At the end of the course we will help you draw up a strategy that is best for managing pests and diseases in your garden.

This course is suitable for a beginner to intermediate level
