Janet Mort is kindly opening her garden again this year by appointment from 1st May to 31st August.
Janet has 85 different varieties of clematis and solar powered watering systems in both of her greenhouses, both of which have proved very successful.

Open Garden France

Donald and Susan Pike will be opening their garden in the Dordogne, France, by appointment during the summer months.

The garden is 4 and 1/2 acres of forest and field with a house, barn and cottage. There are two walled kitchen garden and a roof collection water stocking system. Vegetables, fruit and flowers have been grown on the plot over the last 20 years. Solar panels for hot water to the house.

Bumblebee identification workshop

Join Richard Comont from the Bumblebee Conservation Trust to learn about UK bumblebees.

The morning will include a talk about UK bumblebees and an indoor identification session. In the afternoon you will spend time exploring the flower borders at Garden Organic, to practice your ID skills and see how many bumblebee species you can find!

This free event is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund as part of the Blooms for Bees project, and is open to all.

Cutting Edge Veg

This course will teach you how to grow many of the vegetables, herbs and spices associated with a more exotic range of cuisines and introduce you to some new varieties. Anton Rosenfield leads the course and his expertise has been learnt by growing overseas and working with immigrant communites around the Midlands, so the plants have a proven track record of growing in this area. A glasshouse is not essential, as many will grow outside without a protected environment.

This course assumes some experience of growing, you don't need to be an advanced grower.

Introduction to seed saving

Join experts from Garden Organic's Heritage Seed Library to learn the basic principles of saving seed from vegetables and how to grow them yourself.

This course introduces the basic principles of seed saving; including growing annual plants to seed, harvesting, drying, cleaning and storage. You'll look at crops being grown in-situ and be shown examples of seed ready for saving. Everyone attending will also have the chance to try seed cleaning themselves.

This course is suitable for the beginner seed saver who has knowledge of growing vegetables.

Organic Veg Growing and Planning an organic garden – with seasonal activity

An introductory course focusing on how to start planning your organic garden - covering crop rotation, ground preparation and more. You'll also get to take something seasonal home with you to get you started!

The day begins by looking at what you'll need to do and buy to get you started growing your own fruit and veg. Next steps in seed saving

This continues is the perfect follow-on from our introductory course, ‘Introduction to Seed Saving’, or is ideal for those with some experience of saving seed from vegetables.

The course focuses on those annuals which cross and biennial crops of vegetables. We'll also be looking at isolation, pollination, post-harvest ripening, over-wintering of biennials, drying seed and cleaning seed.
