Good soil management is at the heart of any good growing system. It is one of the most precious assets we have and is the key to growing healthy crops.
This half-day course will provide you with the understanding and confidence to take informed decisions on how to best manage your soil. The course leaders, experts from Garden Organic, will draw on their 15 years worth of practical research work on soil management so much of this information cannot be found in text books.
If you want to find out about the magic of compost then this is the course for you!
The course is primarily aimed at beginners, yet offers tips for those who are more experienced to get the best out of their home composting. The topics covered during the afternoon will include:
why we compost, the benefits of composting to your pocket, the soil and the environment, dos and don'ts and composting as a living process. We'll also touch on leafmould, tumblers, wormeries, bokashi and troubleshooting. There will also be time for you to ask specific questions and have some of your composting problems solved.
Interested in learning how to save seed from your own garden?
Join us for this half-day course and learn everything you need to know about seed saving from Garden Organic’s Heritage Seed Library experts.
Attendees will leave this course with a detailed understanding of the benefits of saving seed, how to select plants for particular characteristics, growing for seed, as well as step by step instructions on saving seeds.
If you are considering leaving a legacy or a significant gift to Garden Organic you may want to know some more about how the organisation works first. Therefore we are offering our members the chance to see behind the scenes and meet key staff during a Supporter Day. We plan to run these every 6 months.
It will offer you the chance to see how we work and discuss our plans for the future. It will run from mid morning to mid afternoon with a lunch provided.
