Moles
The mole (Talpa europaea) can live anywhere where there is sufficient depth of well-drained top soil, but is most common in grassland and deciduous woodland – and organic gardens where there are high populations of earthworms!
Mole hills are made of a very fine-textured, friable soil and were traditionally used to make potting composts.
