The Elysia Biodynamic Garden
After some technical issues it is great to see the flowform water feature working again in the Biodynamic Garden. This feature enlivens the garden by bringing in the active element of water. Take time here to sit, close your eyes and let the rhythmical sounds of the water soothe your senses. The blue haze of the Delphiniums and Grasses add to the cooling effect of this area.

The Vegetable Way Long Border
The roses at Ryton will be looking fabulous during July, Rosa ‘Gertrude Jekyll’ can be found in the Vegetable Way Long Border. This long border contains mixed shrub, rose and herbaceous planting with some vegetables in between.

Flower Pot Area
At this time of year the area around the large flower is a pleasure to walk through. It is sown annually in early spring with a classic mix of cornfield annuals; corn poppy, corn marigold, corn cockle, corn chamomile and cornflower. The mix is 100% wildflower with no grasses, so that modular grown plants can be added to encourage a more balanced effect, if desired.

Herb Garden
Borago officinalis and Papaver somniferum are two plants that are looking good in many parts of the gardens at the moment. Both of them can be found in the herb garden. Wander around on a hot day, smell the essential oils being released by the plants and gaze at all the insect life flitting around the flowers. Plants here are grouped according to their plant family, their uses and origins.

Naturalistic Planting and Low Maintenance Landscape
This area is planted with natural drifts of colourful and imaginative plants that look stunning for most of the year. It is easy to maintain, the gravel is topped up from time to time, the plants are cut back in February and not fed. Stroll around and look through the plants from different angles to appreciate the lovely shapes and the light changing through the planting.
