Products for organic gardening

There is no legislation covering the labelling of products that you might buy for using in your organic garden, other than for plants and seeds. Neither is their a UK wide, officially accepted, definition of organic gardening.

This can be a problem when buying products such as fertilisers, composts and sprays for example. Just because something is labelled as 'Organic', doesn’t necessarily mean that Garden Organic would deem it acceptable under our guidelines. Although some product manufacturers, and garden writers, do follow recognised organic standards, it seems that others have their own ideas. It is all too easy to slap words and symbols on a product that have no real meaning and can easily mislead the unwary.
