The Central Warwickshire Villages Leader Programme
The Central Warwickshire Villages Leader Programme will run until 2013 and is funded jointly by the EU through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the UK Government. In the West Midlands, Advantage West Midlands has a budget of £53 million to deliver the social and economic development elements of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE).
The RDPE is a funding scheme for land based businesses (farmers, growers, foresters and primary processors), rural tourism organisations, other small rural businesses, as well as community groups and social enterprises. It aims to safeguard and enhance our countryside, to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of our rural businesses, and help communities to thrive.
LEADER is the chosen approach to deliver the social and community measures of the RDPE and enables a ‘bottom-up’ community involvement approach to rural development.
We have funding available for exciting projects in the rural areas of Warwick District and Rugby Borough that fit into one of the following categories:
- Arts – events and activities that encourage communities to come together through art and performance
- Growing – activities that encourage communities to come together through local growing projects
- Links – projects that create or strengthen links between land-based industries and the communities that surround them.
