Jam, Jerusalem... and organic gardening
Women's Institute (WI) Denman College have a respected reputation for providing quality training in life skills and handicrafts. Garden Organic has teamed up with this college, some of the major UK land-based educational establishments and City and Guilds NPTC to provide bite-sized learning in organic gardening, with the certainty of authority provided by Garden Organic’s seal of approval.
Ecoworks in Nottingham and Warwickshire College (Pershore) have already piloted the course and are delighted with the results. Derby College also plan to offer it soon. Along with the jam and Jerusalem Denman College will be offering all the units of the City and Guilds Certificate in Organic Gardening, written by Garden Organic and taught by long term member and supporter Robert Longstaff.
The course begins with the Garden Organic Guidelines, our authoritative guide to what is meant by organic in the garden. At a recent meeting of many of the major English colleges the guidelines were received enthusiastically and are seen as just the job for defining organic without fear of contradiction. This is a course aimed at anyone wanting to learn how to grow organically, whether for professional reasons, to learn a life skill or just for fun.
Later this year more colleges will be offering this course and we will keep you up to date as to where it is available.
