City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Organic Gardening
Garden Organic, in association with NPTC, has developed this new qualification in Organic Gardening. It is aimed at amateur gardeners who would like to gain the knowledge and skills of growing vegetables organically. This is an introductory course suitable for those who are new to vegetable growing.

This course starts on the following dates and times:
- Friday 18th September 2009 at 9.15am
- Friday 26th February 2010 at 9.15am
Subjects you will study
- Garden Organic guidelines
- Know your soil: pH, texture and structure
- Managing your soil: make and use compost, apply bulky organic materials, grow green manures
- Grow healthy plants: pest and disease identification, diagnosis and control methods, organic weed management
- Habitat creation and biodiversity - production and mangement of plants in the sustainable garden
- Planning the organic vegetable plot
- Vegetable plant raising, production methods and harvesting
The course is a balance of classroom based sessions and outdoor practicals. Students will be actively involved in growing a range of vegetable crops to Garden Organic guidelines.
