Ryton Gardens
Garden Organic, is celebrating this week after BBC Gardeners’ World readers voted its flagship site the ‘Best Garden’ in the Central region in its Gardens to Visit guide.
Ryton Gardens in Warwickshire came first in the vote beating Moors Meadow Garden and Coton Manor Garden to the top spot.
Thousands of people voted in the awards, and Webbs Garden Centres, who now run the shop and restaurant facilities at Ryton Gardens also won 'Best Afternoon Tea' in the region.
The organic grounds at Ryton Gardens have been demonstrating green and sustainable gardening to visitors for the past 25 years. Garden Organic purchased the 22 acre site in 1985 when it was nothing more than run down pasture land. It has since been transformed by the charity into a stunning attraction with over 30 individual gardens to explore – all managed entirely organically.
Director of Horticulture at Garden Organic, Bob Sherman said, “Having been involved in the development of the gardens from the very beginning and watched them transform I’m delighted that we’ve been recognised for this award. It’s such great feedback and gives us pleasure to know that our gardens are providing an enjoyable, educational experience for visitors, which is what we set out to achieve.”
“I would urge anyone that hasn’t been to Ryton Gardens, or those that only visited us in the early days, to pay us a visit again – they won’t be disappointed.”
Ryton Gardens is open 7 days a week from 9am – 5pm. Admission applies. Shop, café and restaurant run by Webbs are also on site. For more information call 024 76303517
The BBC Gardeners’ World Gardens to Visit guide comes free with the May issue of Gardeners’ World magazine – it includes a fantastic 2 for 1 entry offer to Ryton Gardens.
