Conversion to organic field vegetable production

Our aim

- to provide information on the agronomic and economic performance during conversion from conventional systems to organic systems with field vegetables.

This work was begun (as DEFRA funded project OF0126T) in 1996. The first phase of the project was completed in 2000 and the second phase (DEFRA funded Project OF0191) in 2004.

  3. Hi I am looking to grow organic fruit and vegtables. I would like to buy or rent a small farm or some land. My aim is to make organic ready made meals and dessert. I am a currently looking at buying a small unit and creating a kitchen. My team is in place and I would like any information regarding uk farm listings for sale, land for sale and good reliable wholesalers. Any information would really be appreciated.

  4. I am an eextension worker promoting use of biological inoculant as supplement of urea to rice and corn. I am looking for possible sponsor of on-farm trials as a strtegy to convince farmers withdraw chemical inputs. The problem is they do not believe if they do not see the impact. Impact usually prevails in about 5 years. Can anyone be concerned with this. I come from the Philippines

Tracy,my name is Helena i work in the Heritage Seed Library and i'm originally from the south of Spain.I could give you some advice but i need to know in which area of Spain are you based?How much land are you talking about?The convertion period for horticultural crops is 2 years and normally for fruits trees from 2 to 4 years depending on the fruit that you are growing...Let me know a bit more about it and i'll return more information to you.My email is hsanchez-giraldez@hdra.org.uk
