UK Organic Vegetable Market Study This DEFRA funded project aims to collect and disseminate information on the state and dynamics of the UK organic vegetable market. Data was collected from pre-packers and wholesalers of organic vegetables for four consecutive seasons on volumes and values traded and also trends in the market.

Direct Sales Operator Survey
In order to strengthen the direct sales section of the UK Organic Vegetable Market Study Garden Organic performed a pilot survey of direct sales operators in 2005.

Completed projects in this area

Supermarket Watch Garden Organic members performed a survey of organic vegetables in supermarkets nationwide, covering every month from April to December 2004. Over 300 members participated and made almost 24,000 recordings of individual vegetables. They looked at the price and source of organic vegetables, which enabled seasonality and price trends to be identified, and purchasing habits of committed organic consumers to be highlighted.
