Trends/overview

The trends section allows you to view the key findings from a group of 10 organic vegetable farms monitored over the period 2003 - 2006. It contains information on crop performance, pests, weeds, diseases, economics and marketing.
This information from interviewing growers and crop walks on their farms, as part of the Defra funded 'Sustainable Organic Vegetable Systems Network Project'.

HDRA has been compiling whole farm data since 1996 and organic vegetable crop gross margins into a database since 1999 that has expanded to almost 300 organic crop gross margins and that forms the basis of research on performance trends.

How to use this section
To look at the performance of individual crop types (eg calabrese) click on 'overview of crop performance' then click on 'calabrese.
The archive of past seasons gives individual reports for the 2003, 2004 and 2005 seasons.
