Soil type/aspect: clay loam over chalk, slopes gently in all directions
Basic rotation: 2 years red clover, winter wheat, beans, triticale, vetch, winter wheat, red clover. 117 ha (290 ac) set aside red clover, 109 ha (270 ac) leys, 36 ha (90 ac) permanent pasture, 12 ha (30 ac) arable reversion
Enterprises: dairy herd (120 animals and young stock) and arable crops
Prior land use:
Weeding equipment: McConnell trail topper 4.5 m and a 9m Opico harrow comb. Have lazy dog tools but not so good on this stony ground
Business: one farm manager (started 12 months ago), three full time staff, 2 months of harvest help, contractors in for silage etc.
Marketing: wheat will go for milling, beans and triticale fed to dairy and any surplus sold. Dairy could be fully organic but still looking for milk contract then will do 3 months feed conversion
