Farm size: 147 hectares (360 acres) process will be 3 staged converting a block of 49 hectares (120 acres) each year
Farm type: mixed (cereal)

Soil type/aspect: soil is a medium loam over a medium to heavy clay
Basic rotation: intended rotation is 2 or 3 year white/red clover ley or beans, 2 years late winter winter wheat, barley. Will keep beef on the grass. Intends to be self-sufficient with cereals and not overstock cattle or thinks will not concentrate on cereals
Enterprises:
Prior land use: conventional arable farm, not intensively managed never had huge amounts of fertiliser
Weeding equipment: Hans Bitchler harrow comb 21 ft. A Connell topper 8 ft rear mounted offset. Also a rear mounted topper which is driven backwards
Business: farm managed by the family since 1950. One manager for organic area at present. Just taken over the farm from his father has managed his own dairy farm in Devon organically since 1969
