Reading messages
When you click on a topic, a page is displayed showing all the message postings
relating to the topic. This is called the flat view of a 'thread' and
is easy to read if everyone replies to the original message. Sometimes, however,
the discussion diversifies and one thread can split up into many. In this
case it's simpler to click the 'View threads'
or 'Threaded view' option at the top
of the page.
Other options when reading messages:
Search : allows you to search within the forum for particular words.
Go to Top : use this to see the most recently posted article.
Newer/Older messages : Only 30 messages/topics
will appear on screen at any time. Older messages tend to disappear from the
opening page as more posts are added. You can view them or hide them with
these options.
Posting your own message
To post a new message that is not a reply to an existing message, use the
'New topic' option.
Your name and email address will automatically be filled in for you. No anonymity
here, folks!
Fill in the subject and the text of the message you are posting. If you wish to have any replies to your message sent directly to you via email (replies will also appear on the Forum list) check the tick box which says 'Email replies to this thread, to the address above'.
Click 'Post' to add your message to the Forum.
Once someone replies to a message a thread is created. A thread is a list of posted messages about a particular topic. If your post is nothing to do with a thread then please post a new message, don't reply to an existing one.
If you are reading a big list of replies and want to reply to one in particular, it is best to click on the 'reply to this message' link for the relevant message rather than use the box at the bottom of the page.
HTML support is NOT available when posting your message.
