This website has been developed by the Organic Agriculture Consortium (OAC)/Scientific Congress on Organic Agricultural Research (SCOAR). The European Weed Research Society
The EWRS is an international organisation which promotes and co-ordinates scientific research into all aspects of weed science. Using this site, the EWRS aims to provide support for international collaboration in weed science, partly by assisting the work of the EWRS Working Groups, and partly by providing general information and resources. WECOF is the abbreviation for a project funded by the European Commission called "Strategies of Weed Control in Organic Farming". The aim of the WECOF project is to improve the efficiency of weed control in organic farming. The model crop is winter wheat. A primary objective is to optimise the natural competitiveness of winter wheat in reducing weed growth, and thus reduce the need for direct weed control. WECOF is carried out within the 5th frame work programme of the European community for research, technological within key action 5 "Sustainable agriculture, fisheries and forestry". Weed Science is the offical publication of the Weed Science Society of America. It contains refereed papers describing the results of research that elucidates the nature of phenomena relating to all aspects of weeds and their control. It is published bimonthly, one volume per year, six issues per year beginning in January. Weed Research is an international journal which publishes papers, in the English language, concerned with the study of weeds, their management and control, and related topics. Weed Technology publishes original articles about current weed science research and technology, teaching, extension, industry, consulting, and regulation. Weed Technology includes original research on weed biology and control, weed and crop management systems, reports of new weed problems, new technologies for weed management, and special articles emphasizing technology transfer to improve weed control.
