Weed reference books

There are a huge range of books available for the practical field identification of plants aimed at a wide audience. Many are not of course intended to specifically identify weeds. Below we have listed some of the general field guides that we have found useful for weed identification. Unfortunately some of the more specialised books aimed at farmers may be difficult to get although second-hand booksellers may be able to source copies.

Please feel free to tell us below of any reference books that you find particularly useful.

Comments

  1. note dearth of good published info on weeds and weeding - extraordinary considering that more gardening time is spent on weeding than doing any other task. But the HDRA weed information is fantastic. any chance that this leading to an eventual publication - with new additions each year ?
2 other useful but dated books i have found are Sir Edward Salisbury: Weeds and Aliens . collins new naturalists 1961
and Thomas Hill: The biology of weeds - studies in biology no 79 , Edward Arnold
    - william edmonds 1---0-2007
