Urgent Appeal - please respond today
An appeal from Myles Bremner, CEO Garden Organic
For many years we have been at the forefront of the organic movement and we remain dedicated to researching and promoting organic growing. However, since I joined the organisation a few months ago, it has become clear that we must work even harder to continue to lead the way in terms of organic best practice. Exceptional circumstances mean that during this year – our 50th anniversary year – we will face some difficult challenges.
Increasing demands on our activities means that it is now vital that we raise extra funds to meet these needs. Safeguarding the future of all that we hold dear is what moves me to write and ask for your additional support today.
Thanks to the generous response from our members and supporters this appeal has so far raised the sum of
£93,537 (inc. Gift Aid) as of 10th July 2008.

Why not show your support further by taking out a membership for yourself, or for a friend or relative.
Here are just a few examples of why it is essential we raise additional funds today to help us meet our challenges in this our fiftieth year. There are many others too, but already in the short time I have been here I have been enthused and inspired by the passion and commitment of our supporters who help Garden Organic in so many different ways. I believe that with your help we can achieve even more.
A gift from you could:
- Help to make urgently needed improvements to our flagship centre at Ryton and increase visitor numbers, as well as expanding our range of practical organic demonstrations and techniques. We desperately want to help even more people benefit from the outstanding organic principles that so many of you already share.
- Help safeguard our renowned Heritage Seed Library. Vegetable varieties are under threat of extinction. Thousands are lost every year – so a gift from you today could help protect another variety from being lost forever.
- Help pay for one of our specially trained mentors working with organic growers in some of the most deprived areas of the UK giving people the opportunity to become more involved in their communities and improve their diet by growing their own healthy and nutritious food.
Organic cultivation has become enormously significant over recent times. More and more people are determined to grow organic, eat organic and most of us now recognise and value the positive impact organic practices have on so many areas of our food production. From protecting habitat, conserving wildlife, reducing rubbish and landfill, and providing local food for local communities, we can be in no doubt of its relevance and place in today's society.
Garden Organic has been at the vanguard of this movement for change. And with your help we can continue to lead by example – providing a strong and powerful voice and ensuring the very best in organic methods, techniques and information are available to everyone.
