The Vegetable Kingdom
Mad about vegetables, bonkers about your garden
–
Want to share your enthusiasm?
Garden Organic Ryton is an intriguing, highly informative and enjoyable place to choose for a school visit for children of all ages. There are 10 acres of garden with 30 different areas showing examples of organic gardening. In addition to this there is an interactive, educational centre called The Vegetable Kingdom.
Currently we are developing the educational programme that we provide for school visits to the site and we are looking for volunteers to help with this. The current team of volunteer guides help us to enthuse and educate children by taking school groups around the garden. These tours are designed with each school’s needs in mind and are based on the topics on which they are currently working.
We are looking for volunteers to help in a number of ways. If you have horticultural experience, an understanding of organic principles and would like to become part of our team of volunteer guides then we would love to hear from you.
We also need volunteers who have an interest in healthy eating, history, current affairs and/or horticulture. These people will encourage schools to get the most from a visit to the Vegetable Kingdom. The role would include answering questions but more importantly it would involve asking them and directing children to displays that would allow them to find the answer for themselves.
If you would like to be involved in this exciting development with Garden Organic then please contact our education department on 0247 630 8238 or email Colette Bond
