Ryton Organic Gardens
Thursday, 20 July 2017 -
1:00pm to 4:30pm

Attracting the right wildlife to your garden can be a fantastic help in managing many pests and diseases organically. Join us for this practical course and learn more about what you need to do to make your garden or growing space as wildlife-friendly as possible.

During the half-day course you'll take a walk around Ryton Organic Gardens with one of our wildlife experts to discover the different habitats used here, spot some of the birds, beasts and insects you may find in your own garden, and learn how to encourage more to join them.

Part of the course will involve pond-dipping to discover what beneficial wildlife can be found in garden ponds, how they can help you with your organic growing, and how to create your own wildlife pond.

You will also have the opportunity to make an insect hotel to take home and start welcoming wildlife into your own garden.

This course is led by Sally Cunningham. Sally has been working for Garden Organic for over 17 years, and is presently a research officer for the charity. Sally is a wildlife devotee who has been interested in all sorts of creatures in the garden for as long as she can remember. Sally has spent time recording birds for Leicestershire, Warwickshire & Wiltshire for many years so is an exceptional expert in how to encourage all kinds of wildlife in the garden.

This course is suitable at beginner to intermediate level.
