Introduction to Slow Food Anglia

Cheryl Centre, Growing Together Westcliffe
Monday, 20 March 2017 -
8:00pm to 10:00pm

Dermott Sales, Leader of Slow Food Anglia, will join us to talk about the Slow Food movement. Slow Food began in Italy with the founding of its forerunner organisation, Arcigola, in 1986 to resist the opening of a McDonald's near the Spanish Steps in Rome. In 1989, the founding manifesto of the international Slow Food movement was signed in Paris by delegates from 15 countries. At its heart is the aim to promote local foods and traditional gastronomy and food production. Conversely this means an opposition to fast food, industrial food production and globalisation.

The talk is being held in our normal venue - Cheryl Centre, Growing Together Westcliff. Please use the entrance in Prittlewell Chase, Westcliff-on-Sea SS0 9AG (corner of Fairfax Drive and Prittlewell Chase). Our speakers start at 20.00 sharp, but Growing Together is open from 19.00 to prepare the room, etc.
