Open Garden at Laurel Villa
Allison Priestman and Martin Benson are generously opening their garden near Stroud on Sunday 23rd July from 2pm to 6pm. This Cotswold garden has been developed over the past decade by Martin and Allison. It is being opened in support of Garden Organic on the same day, and in partnership with, Knoll House, Burleigh, which is only 10 minutes’ walk away.
This organically nurtured garden features extensive vegetable growing, soft fruit area, a small orchard, walnut and filbert trees, a courtyard garden and extensive flower areas; including a new rose garden and a steep bank bed with grasses and herbaceous perennials. Visit to delight in artichokes, bergamot, courgettes, dahlias, echinacea and french beans.
The garden is at Laurel Villa, Swellshill, Brimscombe, near Stroud GL5 2SW. A good local landmark is Winstones Ice Cream factory at Bownham Common, above Swellshill. Look out for signs indicating where to park. Unfortunately local buses do not run on a Sunday.
It is important to note that there is NO parking available in the narrow steep lane of Swellshill, so please park on Bownham Common, admire the wild late orchids and walk 5 minutes down into the hamlet where garden entrance will be well signposted.
Unfortunately, due to the garden having steps, steep banks and uneven ground it is not suitable for wheelchair access.
Entry by donation please.
