This introductory course focuses on how to start planning your organic garden, with practical tips on crop rotation, ground preparation and more. Winter is the perfect time to plan ahead and prepare your space for next year’s growing adventure. Take advantage of the opportunity to make the most of either a new or existing garden, with guidance for growing both edibles and ornamentals organically.
This course will cover:
How to prioritise space and time
How to devise effective crop rotations for healthier plants
Companion planting and plants that benefit insects
Soil care, including composting, green manures and no-dig principles
How to select crops that provide food / interest through winter
Necessary infrastructure: compost bins, greenhouse etc.
Welcoming habitats for garden wildlife.
This course is taught by Judith Conroy, a long time organic gardener. Judith is passionate about cultivating in harmony with nature and is enthusiastic about any crafts and skills that help gardeners be more self-sufﬁcient. You will also be able to take home a variety of fact sheets to help you start your own planning.
