Support our autumn appeal
What a prescient time for me to join a charity that has always fundamentally believed that gardening in harmony with nature was better for everyone. Currently, the news is dominated by the climate emergency, with the recent report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change being released against the backdrop of stories of famine, fire, and flood. The Extinction Rebellion has ramped up, and as a mum, to two teenagers I can report that young people are angry and want to take action that will make a tangible difference.
Organic gardening offers solutions
Over the past year, with your support, our horticulturalists have established a superb demonstration garden that has worked as a brilliant backdrop for communicating with gardeners around the globe. By taking our expertise online through webinars, courses, and blogs, we've responded to a thirst for knowledge about how to garden for the good of the planet. We've set about teaching people to grow some of their own food; start ecosystems crucial to insect survival; make their own compost; nurture soil health and take part in plant and seed conservation efforts.
What we’ve found is people have come back to us wanting more detail, a closer look, a more immersive learning experience so they can use their new found skills as quickly as possible. This is where we need your help. We've gone as far as we can with what we have, but to empower and enthuse the next generation of gardeners in this digital age we urgently need to upgrade our audio and visual kit and invest in some professional filmmaking.
We want to do better at connecting up our whole organic gardening movement from experienced right through to beginners, no matter where people live. To do so, we need to be offering excellent videos of organic gardening techniques. We need to improve the sound quality on our award-winning podcast. We need to ensure a stable internet connection for all our online training courses.
If we can bring our technical resources bang up to date, then we can inspire and connect with a whole new generation of organic gardeners. We're launching a fundraising drive to raise £25,000 to help us buy the equipment we need to make this happen.
You can help by making a donation to our Autumn appeal. Thank you.
