Jackson Grey Back

The donor of this variety was the former Head Gardener at Normanby Hall Walled Garden, Lincolnshire. It was passed to him by two elderly visitors, and it is thought to be local to Kilham, East Yorkshire, where it had been grown since at least the 1920s, though it is possibly much older. It is a tall variety (1.5-1.8m) and requires strong supports. Our donor sows in March/April for harvesting throughout the summer.
