Hungarian Giant

Originally from Hungary but reported to have been taken to the USA in the early 21st century by Hungarian, Geza Korbely.

Our seed came from John Yeoman who describes it as, “Mild and sweet. Early, vigorous and very meaty!”. We agree; the strong, healthy vines produce huge, red fruits, many weighing 500g or more, perfect for slicing and sandwiches.

It “tastes of sunshine” according to one participant in the HSL taste tests.

It is a potato-leaved type and produces flowers with protruding stigma, so if seed saving it must be isolated from other varieties with this type of flower.
