Arranged in conjunction with the Society of Garden and Landscape Designers, this pilot composting workshop is designed to deepen knowledge, build confidence, and equip attendees to support others to compost effectively. The session will be tailored to those in the horticultural profession but also relevant and open to anyone who wishes to develop their composting skills.

The session will provide the following outcomes for participants

· Feel inspired and more confident to get composting

· Be able to apply effective composting processes

· Confident enthusing and supporting others to compost

You will receive a certificate on completion of the course.

We anticipate that most participants will have prior horticultural experience; therefore, we will provide the knowledge & support to encourage effective composting in a range of settings, and ways to encourage clients to adopt composting. The session will include a combination of classroom based and practical learning activities utilising our on-site training garden and compost facilities.

We will cover the following topics

· The environmental and social benefits of composting

· The components of successful composting & which materials to compost

· The different types of compost bins & methods

· The importance and function of biological life within the compost bin

· Engaging others in the compost process including troubleshooting and FAQs

Tea and coffee will be provided for participants. Please bring your own lunch. You are also invited to spend time in our training garden pre and post session.
