Hidatsa Shield Figure
Named after the Hidatsa Native American tribe of North Dakota, as the seed coat's pattern is said to resemble a warrior bearing a golden shield (you might need to squint a bit!) Produces white flowers followed by flat, green pods packed with the pretty beans. Can be eaten fresh when very young, but really a sturdy and prolific drying bean. Seed colour bicolour whitish/buff with maroon spots.
