Riesentraube
Indeterminate. Cordon (but can be allowed to ramble). William Woys Weaver rediscovered this extraordinary old German variety and uncovered its history. The name translates as 'huge grapes', but in Hungary it has a more risqué name alluding to the nipple shape at the base of the fruit and is used exclusively for making wine! It is high yielding, producing a generous harvest of red fruits the size of a large cherry that have a delicious, tangy flavour.
