Twelve Acre
Our donor's family have grown this variety for at least three generations, since before 1890, and it has always been associated with Twelve Acre Farm, Eynsham, Oxfordshire. It produces tall, strong plants (>2m) producing generous pods with 5-7 fat peas in each. Guardian Heather Horner suggests sowing before the end of March, so it matures before the driest time in summer, which it dislikes! Cooks and freezes well; our donor describes the flavour as “Outstanding!”
