HSBC Growing Champions

HSBC Growing Champions
Garden Organic are working in partnership with HSBC UK at their new headquarters at No.1 Centenary Square, Birmingham. We have been commissioned to design two roof terraces for the new building, 1 food growing and 1 ornamental. Over the course of the first year, Garden Organic will teach HSBC staff how to care for their new roof gardens the organic way, and how to involve and inspire their colleges to participate in more gardening activities at home and at work.

HSBC Growing Champions
Garden Organic will train a core group of the most engaged and enthused HSBC staff to take on the role of Growing Champions. These individuals will volunteer their time to maintain the roof terrace gardens. They will also motivate and engage fellow employees to participate in growing activities within the workplace.

All employees will be invited to join the weekly expert gardening sessions, delivered by Garden Organic trainers with specialist knowledge and experience.

As confidence grows, Growing Champions will be encouraged to run their own practical gardening drop-in sessions, supported by Garden Organic, if desired.

The Growing Champions will also be actively encouraged to participate in leading the gardening club and put into practice what they have learned as they take responsibility for the two terrace gardens

Once the gardening club is up and running, sessions will be supported by Garden Organic which could include additional specialist training such as compost making, seed saving, and more practical skills such as growing for nature. These additional workshops will be delivered by experienced Garden Organic staff who can share their knowledge to help others.
