Ecologically aware gardens can be entered into a European award until 31 May

Are you part of a vibrant community garden, or one that is an outstanding example of climate change adaption in action? Or are you testing out new environmental methods of gardening? If the answer is yes, you may like to enter your garden into the European Award for Ecological Gardening.

This award, organised by our Lower Austrian counterparts Natur im Garten, is presented every two years to recognise high-quality ecological gardening projects, with participation open to everyone.

Our CEO Fiona Taylor will be on this year’s judging panel, and they’ll be looking for innovative and sustainable projects, designed in a way that is close to nature, ecologically maintained and incorporates social and economic aspects.

She said: “I’m delighted to be part of the judging panel for this award that recognises gardeners, and gardens, which have gone that extra mile to nurture nature and buffer climate change.

“We have so many examples across the country that highlight the best of eco-friendly and organic practices – and it’s fantastic this award will give them the recognition they deserve. I urge you to enter!”

How to submit your garden into the award

Submissions can be made in the following categories, until 31 May, 2025:

Category 1: Gardening focused on community.

Category 2: Biodiversity and climate change adaptation in gardens and green spaces.
