Climbing French Bean
Black Delgado
This semi-climbing variety produces lilac flowers followed by a plentiful crop of green pods. These can be a little stringy; however, the shiny black seeds are perfect as a drying bean. Thought to have originated with the Zapotec Civilisation of the Oaxaca Valley, Southern Mexico, who used it not only soups and stews but also as a dye for women's black shawls.
