Wapsipinicon Peach

Indeterminate. Cordon. Donated to the HSL Collection by John Yeoman, who comments that, "this is one of the best tomatoes I have ever tasted". It is an American heirloom named after the Wapsipinicon River, Iowa. The small/medium fruit (5cm) are creamish-yellow with a slightly fuzzy surface, hence the name 'peach'. It also has rather a complex flavour, sweet and fruity, and great texture. Caution. This variety has been known to exact an allergic skin reaction in sensitive individuals, possibly because of the downy hairs on the surface of the fruit.
