The giant bug hotel

Right in the middle of our 'Ecotalk Rooted in Nature' garden is a show-stopping giant bug hotel.

Donated by The Wildlife Community, the garden incorporates two large Crittacabin wildlife habitats.

This impressive habitat provides a home for pollinators, beneficial insects, mini mammals and hedgehogs - a show-stopping addition to any wildlife garden.

The giant triangular habitat stands at one metre tall. It's constructed from FSC-certified timber has lots of varied habitats within the structure to support a range of wildlife within your garden.

Starting at the base, you'll find a Hogitat or hedgehog shelter. This provides hedgehogs with shelter and protection from predators.

Either side of the hogitat is a slot log - the perfect hideaway for lacewings and overwintering insects.

Next up are a collection of logs, topped with three squares. Each one features small holes for solitary bees, and larger holes for insects such as ladybirds, lacewings and beneficial pollinators.

The Crittacabin is finished with the addition of natural pine cones and recycled plastic fixing points on the reverse to ensure the habitat is secured in place.
