Laurel Villa open garden
Allison Priestman and Martin Benson are generously opening their garden again this year on Sunday 29th July from 2pm until 6pm.
The garden is located near Stroud and is a steep, terraced cotswold garden. Developed over the past decade by Martin and Allison this organically nurtured garden features extensive vegetable growing, soft fruit area, a small orchard, walnut and filbert trees, a courtyard garden, and extensive flower areas, including a rose garden and a steep bank bed, with grasses and herbaceous perennials. Visit to delight in artichokes, bergamot, courgettes, dahlias, echinacea, french beans, geraniums etc.
The open garden is at Laurel Villa, Swellshill, Brimscombe, Nr Stroud GL5 2SW. A good local landmark is Winstones Ice Cream factory (GL5 5BX), Bownham Common. The garden is about 400 metres further along the narrow 20 mph road going past Winstones.
There is no parking available in the narrow steep lane of Swellshill. Please therefore park on Bownham Common, admire the wild late orchids and walk 5 minutes down into the hamlet. Look out for signs indicating where to park. The garden entrance will be well signposted too.
Unfortunately local buses do not run on Sundays. The garden isn’t suitable for wheelchair access due to lots of steps, steep banks and uneven ground.
For any queries please contact Allison or Martin either by phone or email.
