Join Avon OrganicGroup for their January meeting, with a talk by John Salvat - Walled gardens & old growing techniques.
Havens of sensuous pleasure, religious sanctuaries, estate supermarkets and a lure for Elizabeth 1’s favours. Walled gardens have been an interesting window into social change over hundreds of years. Competition to grow the most exotic fruits and flowers was initiated by exploration to then unknown corners of the earth by Captain Cook and many others.
Join West Yorkshire Organic Group for their annual Potato Day. They'll be around 40 varieties on sale at 15p per tuber, as well as talks and book signings by Radio Leeds Sunday Gardener, Graham Porter, and potato expert, Alan Romans.
Borders Organic Gardeners will be holding their Potato Day and Green Fair on Sunday 3rd March from 11am-3pm. Come along and buy your seed potatoes and have a great day out!
There will be 100 varieties of potato tubers including old favourites, heritage and blight resistant varieties, plus a selection of Scottish grown organic varieties. Tubers will be 20p each.
There will be up to 25 stalls selling bread, local meats, dairy, juice, crafts, gardening advice and garden plants from Woodside. There will also be other 'green' groups, children's activities and a cafe.
