Why we save Northern Queen Lettuce 🔗

This cold-hardy, ex-commercial variety, originally sold by Finney's a Northumberland seed merchant until the 1950s, may have disappeared forever if wasn't for a packet found by our donor among her late father's gardening clutter. Despite the seed packet already being several years old, her chance disovery along with help from fellow members of the Eastry Horticultural Society helped to bring the variety back from the brink and secure it in the Heritage Seed Library.
