Sir Charles Monck created the romantic quarry garden, with its dramatic ravines and sheer cliff faces. Due to its unique microclimate, this area is planted with a range of exotic planting to give a verdant, subtropical feel.
Immediately adjacent to the house is the formal terraces with symmetrical ornamental beds and Italianate steps. This overlooks the beautiful Rhododendron Garden and beyond that, the wild and rugged Crag Wood with shimmering lake and cascade.
