The Garden has a large group of volunteers, who are highly committed and have expertise in different fields. A wide variety of vegetables, fruit and flowers are grown, outdoors and in polytunnels, following organic and no dig principles.

Part of the site is made up of 'small garden spaces', providing inspiration to visitors about what they could do with their own gardens, allotments or balconies. The Garden is open every day of the week to visitors, and the site guides or volunteers are happy to give guided tours.

The Garden is part of Transition Worcester, a community organisation which is part of the nationwide Transition movement and which seeks to develop a more sustainable way of living in the face of climate change and fossil fuel depletion. The Garden has introduced a number of innovative and effective measures to mitigate the impact of flooding, as the site floods every winter for up to 82 days: these include floating bee hives, a floating office, a floating greenhouse and a floating compost toilet!
