The kitchen garden is the origin of the wider garden as this was in use as soon as the castle became occupied. In the kitchen garden a range of fruits and vegetables are grown, including some heritage varieties from the Heritage Seed Library.
Further areas that can be found in the garden are 85-meter herbaceous borders surrounded, the Queen Mother’s Garden designed by Penelope Hobhouse and a dry moat, planted with jungle plants.
